Be Part of the North East’s Waste and Resource Recovery Future

IMG_6803The North East is once again demonstrating it is leading the way when it comes to waste management and resource recovery.  The North East Waste and Resource Recovery Group (NEWRRG) is the first regional waste and resource recovery group in the State to release their draft Waste and Resource Recovery Implementation Plan (north east implementation plan) and is now preparing to consult with community for public comment and feedback.

The north east implementation plan is now available for download, as both a printable or interactive version at: www.newrrg.vic.gov.au

The north east implementation plan sets out the waste and resource recovery (recycling) infrastructure needs (facilities and equipment) of the north east region for the next 10 years. The north east implementation plan also looks at ways to minimise the environmental and public health impacts of waste while supporting a cost effective recycling system which reduces dependence on landfill.

Public consultation sessions on the draft north east implementation plan will officially commence from Monday 16 May and close 4 weeks later on Monday 13 June 2016.
