What happens to your Kerbside Bins once emptied?

3 Bin SystemHave you ever wondered where all the rubbish, recycling and organics goes after your kerbside bins are emptied?

Below are three short educational videos that follow the journey of your kerbside bin being emptied and where it goes?

The videos look at the journey of a three bin systems: rubbish (red lid), recycling (yellow lid) and organics (green lid) and demonstrates that what we do at home does have an impact on our environment. You will be surprised to learn that what you do at home with your rubbish, recycling and organics can make a big difference in the end.

Our aim was:

To inform residents about what happens to their kerbside rubbish, recycling and organics bins after they are collected and why separation is so important, ‘why waste matters to the environment’. That separating your waste stream at the source makes a huge difference of what ends up in your kerbside bin and reducing waste to landfill.

North East Waste & Resource Recovery Group in partnership with Alpine Shire, Benalla Rural City, City of Wodonga, Indigo Shire, Mansfield Shire, Rural City of Wangaratta and Towong Shire completed this project in August 2015. The videos were produced by Mesch Engagement, Melbourne. Click below to view the videos.
