Tidy Towns – Sustainable Communities 2019 Awards Finalists

The SEED Student Environment Day held in Beechworth in May 2019 is now a finalist in the Keep Australia Beautiful Sustainable Communities Award in the category of Community Government Partnership.  This event, which is run through a partnership between North East Waste & Resource Recovery Group and North East Catchment Management Authority was supported by both the Indigo Shire Council and many passionate local groups.

40th Student Environment Day

Baarmutha Park in Beechworth hosted the 40th Student Environment Day for approximately 200 students from the Indigo Shire area.  This was the first time the event was held in Beechworth, and the participation rate was excellent.

Schools that took part included Beechworth PS, Beechworth Montessori School, St. Joseph’s PS (Beechworth), Wooragee PS, Springhurst PS and Kiewa Valley PS.

The Student Environment Day was run in conjunction with the Indigo Shire and coordinated by the North East Environment Education Directory (SEED), which is a uniquely North East Victorian initiative run through a partnership with North East Catchment Management Authority and North East Waste and Resource Recovery Group.
